Jasmie's reflection: I learnt alot of things at the village like how we often take simple things for granted such as toilet flush and paper, clean water and taps, clothes, stationaries, shoes etc. I saw things that I never did in Singapore, such as people living in tents and children walking around with no proper clothing n footwear etc. I received love from strangers, my host family, who have now become my second family, and learnt to love others. I felt a warm and queasy feeling in my chest when the children grinned from ear to ear at the slippers we got them. I want to continue to give as much as I can and help the less fortunate people as I strongly believe they deserve better and no one should be left behind amidst development.

Amanda's Reflection :The GK experience with Jose Rizal Village was definitely an experience that changed the outlook of my life. The 10 days spent in the village made me develop attachment that I never thought I would be doing so. From the first day when we first met, feeling unfamiliar and foreign. To the subsequent familiarity we established with the families, waking up and greeting them good morning with smiles to start the day.The hospitality and warmth that I received from my host families made me feel so much at home and at ease even though I was away from home. The kids in particularly taught me so much about sharing and being contented with whatever one has. From them, I learned about being grateful for the little things we have, and simply loving one another.  The interaction with the villagers taught me that simplicity itself brings about another form of happiness that one can never get in the urban city.  A chapter of my life that i will always hold close to my heart! (:
